what brought me to Highpoint are the people I can remember the first time stepped foot on the campus and the students came up to me they look me in the eye they shook my hand and they said good morning mr. Stern where does this happen in the world anymore I'm high point alarm and I had such a great experience here and I really love the community and it's still a great community and I wanted my kids to go to school like I I did go to High Point or did and we just about him so much and their kids are so well behaved that we had to go check out the skin if I were to tell someone else high point I'd say Hi Point is a place for anyone that's looking for the traditional values of everything just education but just family values as well and I think that's what Drew Us in and I believe that that's what draws everybody in the sense our kids are getting that almost School House feel and a big city salaries and we started probably in the 1994 I believe it was with the computer room in the library and kept going not every year but almost every year to improve the the campus and is turned out to be I think of fabulous campus it's much more student-friendly a lot more eriez for the students to play which I think is important so I think the sillies have greatly improved we did not have a teacher's lounge we did not have a teachers workroom we did not have a home building we did not have a multi-purpose room so in terms of the physical plant those are things that have changed when I first came here my husband built me a cart and it was a huge wooden cart and I had to push it from I had no office no place to put my things except for a cupboard in the teachers bathroom sewing organ materials I would have to stand outside the bathroom and wait to get it I do remember that the lady teachers had to wear dresses not pants and they actually had to wear stockings with the dresses and so that was one of the things it when mr. Higgins turn on that we were happy to say we could set aside when we built this whole will it be here in with the multi-purpose room and a rooftop playground we had a rather ugly concrete retaining wall and mr. Higgins came to me and he said you're the resident climber right now so we can do that so did a lot of research ended up in Boulder Colorado I happen to be in Colorado that same time I got to meet the designers are we what kind of walk through some designs and long story short they drove out here from Boulder and they turned the concrete wall into this natural looking Granite style climbing wall and it was a student council let's do this turn the first year when they came up with it we couldn't figure out a way to do it there just didn't quite have the imagination, figure it out just so you know if we get anyone and that's thing when you do something for the first time is anyone actually going to show up Highway put on and it was really fun event to the kids showed up parents teachers everybody kind of saw how this event could really work and then we get the next year rented a bigger Cinema Cafe DJs and I just kind of grew as as we gain confidence that this thing could actually happen so I was GarageBand turn on I guess this will be GarageBand number 1111 Daniel GarageBand with him and an idea from the kids my way to make it happen 1993 this whole Mountain was on fire and we had a maintenance man at the time Mr Tim or never forget him that was told by the police to leave or they would have rested it was that kind of a firestorm and when they came back he hid in one of the class and when they left he wanted down the rules of the of the entire campus and kept it from burning to the ground as it was the fire station burnt down we had a couple of houses that burnt down but the school survived 14 years ago the school mothers started a sign-up list and they deliver meals to my front door and they bought me clothes for chemotherapy that work comfortable and I need it was just amazing they started an online shopping service for me that all I had to do was go online and order the groceries and I was still coming I would have chemotherapy on Thursday afternoon and I would be back here by Monday morning but the parents weren't unbelievable and then open house night I had caught the flu from one of the kids and I was just finishing chemotherapy so I had to hide do they hospitalize me open house day and the mothers came and finished hanging everything up and put everything together so can't get to be much more loving and giving anything that unless you're we mrs. Garrett been the kindergarten teacher here for 19 super tired and it was such an outpouring of emotion from the older kids in the younger ones too I'm getting emotional just thinking about it it's just really nice to see I had one parent when they were coming to the tour say I want creativity how are your teachers being creative so I walked into Woodward's room and she was in the middle of explaining what a tableau is to her students and so they were all together raising a flag in this very Matic motion I said well this is how you do it what I like about going on 1514 going on 18 there just down to earth kids young adults in when you get in the junior high so I think really the student body and the parents are all really would makes Hi-Point special to me love the community feel about Hi-Point and just the amazing families and of course of course my students really make this place so special every year and I'm just amazed by them their talents there telligence and most importantly just what good people they are when you see him out in the community you can expect extreme politeness and carrying it is there any what I hear from other schools and other people in the band in the school industry is that our kids are the nicest they are very respectful they are very well prepared emotionally there healthy physically obviously with our Hill running daily PE program I think that I think that you are really happy here I see that they're moving the joy you know and learning and the joy of friendship CR7 of readers here to huge literacy and book loving culture here and there's something magical about this place it's such a Manatee the sense of Family Garden through 8th grade keeps the 8th graders well connected to their what sounds with a kindergarten through 8th format of the 7th graders field fully empowered to kind of grow to being responsible people we have an incredible commitment to sustainability what I love about it is the faculty and staff are looking ways to make this an education process for the kids is not just teaching it because it's the right thing to do join the Board of Trustees because I wanted to be a part of the future of High Point and really take an active part in making sure that the school continues to grow in the way it should you know I think I just think this is this community has such an opportunity right now and I'm really excited with our new Middle School. before and with with the team we have assembled anyway we have some incredible people now in the school. Have such amazing expert sit there helping us do things we never even thought possible so I just I want the community I want Pasadena I want San Gabriel Valley to under the high point is a world-class school we will be honoring the past celebrating the present and a shooting the future buy and High Point Ardmore we are high point my kids my kids my kids are high I am high point I am not going by of My Phone 5.5 hi
