High Point Debate Results at the Poly Quad Tournament

Congratulations to High Point's debate squad and their coach, Gint Valiulis for another outstanding performance at the Poly Quad League Tournament on March 16!
Overall, High Point won an award for having the 5th highest winning percentage among 24 participating schools from four leagues throughout Southern California. High Point's three teams compiled a combined win-loss record of 7-5, with each team winning at least twice.
The team of Andrew Lai, Ava Zhang, and Andrew Bigelow went 3-1 and placed 11th out of 120 teams in the tournament.  Ayush Chhabra, Isa Povenmire, and Ian Truitt finished 2-2.  Sergey Barseghyan and Tim Liu, competing as a two-person team, also finished 2-2.
Individually, Ava Zhang was the 21st-rated speaker in the tournament out of more than 300 individual debaters.
Next up for High Point debaters is the Regional Tournament in April at Mt. San Antonio College. At least one team will represent High Point at Regionals, and possibly more after the strong showing at the Poly Quad League Tournament.
A special thank you to Gint Valiulis for doing an exceptional job of coaching the HPA debate team!
