Meet Kristin Haines, Director of Admissions / Assistant Head of School as she invites parents to explore High Point Academy.

During the admissions process this is the school's opportunity to showcase what the school has to offer.  We invite families and parents in from October all the way through January. It includes stopping in the classrooms having conversations with students. Having wonderful conversations with teachers. Our goal is for parents and families to see the school in all its glory. For us it's the relationship that teachers and staff have with the kids that's what makes it a magic place. Students come in from many preschools when we start in Kindergarten. What I like to tell parents is that they shouldn't worry about where their children are. What we're looking for is kids who are ready for the process. They're ready for school. And so when we get them, we assess them and we find out exactly where they are. Some kids are learning their letters.  Some kids are reading in chapter books. And from there we start addressing their needs. Putting them in groups so that they feel success. One of the questions parents ask me all the time is about safety. Safety comes in the physical care that we have on-campus. But safety also comes from feeling seen in an environment where their ideas and where their curiosities and needs are met.  We want children to feel safe in how they learn and to ask questions and to be curious about the world, that's important
