PARENTING FORUM -New Date!
All parents of students in Grades K-3 are invited to attend a Parent Forum with our school counselor, Cindy Hunter on Wednesday, March 24.  It will be held in the multi-purpose room from 8:30-10:15 AM.  This will be an open discussion on any parenting issues of concern.

USED BOOK DRIVE
In conjunction with the HPA Book Fair, the Junior High is sponsoring a gently used book collection during the week of the Book Fair.  Please click here for more information. 


HPA BOOK FAIR MOVIE NIGHT (March 12) 
Join your friends at HPA for the Book Fair Kick-Off on Friday, March 12 from 5:30-8:00 PM. The Book Fair will be open for shopping that night.  Fliers were sent home today with more details about this fun event. 
HPA BOOK FAIR (March 15-18)
HPA's Book Fair "Read on the Red Carpet" is coming soon!  We will kick off with Family Movie Night on Friday, March 12, from 5:30-8:00 PM.  All classes will have scheduled visits during the week of March 15-18.  Thursday, March 18, from 7:00-8:30 AM is the Dads'/Special Friends' Breakfast/Book Fair Visit.  The reservation form was sent home today. Please click here for the Book Fair Breakfast reservation form.  For additional information about these events, please click here.  If you are interested in volunteering,  please click here to download a volunteer form.  Book Fair Allotment Forms were sent home with students today.  Please fill out one per family and return to the office ASAP.  If you would

HPA SUMMER SCHOOL
HPA Summer School will be held from June 28-July 23 (4 weeks).  A wide variety of academic and enrichment classes will be offered for all students entering Kindergarten through 8th grade.  Extra brochures/registration forms are available in the office. The brochure, registration form and schedule is also available on our website under Academics & Enrichment. 


GIRL SCOUT SILVER AWARD PROJECT -Tees for Totes (March 11-19)
Plastic bags are extremely costly for food banks to purchase.  To help these food banks, 7th Grader, Sabrina Waller is collecting T-shirts (child large and all adult sizes, in good condition) and turning them into reusable bags to donate to the North Hollywood Interfaith Pantry.  Please click here for more information.

HPA YEARBOOK PICTURE REQUEST
We are requesting photos of the children of High Point Academy for the yearbook.  Photos of special events, field trips, and other events will be appreciated.  Please submit your pictures as soon as you can because we are building pages every day to meet our deadlines.   While you will be able to submit photos as late as March, we will have completed half of the yearbook by the end of January. The sooner the pictures are received the better.  We cannot guarantee that all submissions will be included in the yearbook.  Please go to

ONE CAUSE GIVES $$$ TO HIGH POINT

One Cause (Formerly School Pop) sent High Point a check for $55.  The following families bought items on-line during the holidays (through the One Cause website) FOR FREE. Thanks to:  Bradley, Burke, Diehl, Foster, Lintvedt, Vagim, and Williams families for using this easy, no-cost fundraiser.  Every little bit helps!  Look on our HPA website under "Support" HPA to find out how you can contribute too...It is easy and FREE.  Thank you.

RACE FOR THE CURE

TENTH ANNUAL EAGLE CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT

Please turn in your reservations for the golf and dinner on Friday, April 16 at your earliest convenience.  This is always a wonderful event.  Angeles National is a beautiful venue and both the happy hour and dinner promise to be fun and relaxing so plan to join in the fun!


WASTE LESS LIVING

Last week the students of High Point Academy successfully sorted and diverted approximately 308.6 lbs of compostable waste maintaining the schools Waste Diversion Rate at 75%, including recyclables.  Current volume totals: Compostables = 6,272 lbs., Recyclables = 956.9 lbs., Trash = 2,362.9 lbs.

Waste Less Living Tip of the Week - Avoid using the microwave to defrost your frozen foods.  Plan ahead and defrost the old-fashioned way!  Use the refrigerator.  You’ll save energy and keep those plastic toxins from leaching into your food. For more information on Waste Less Living please go to http://wastelessliving.com/blogs.htm.


AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Please Note:  Remember to check the HPA Website Calendar for all after school program schedules.

Chess Club:   This session of  Edu-Chess session ends on Monday, March 29.  Grades K&1 meet from 2:20-3:20 PM and Grades 2-8 meet from 3:15-4:15 PM.  Visit their website at www.edu-chess.com.

Science Adventures:    The next session (Invention Dimension) begins on Tuesday, March 23. Grades K&1 will meet from 2:15-3:15 PM.  Grades 2-5 will meet from 3:15-4:15 (if enough students enroll). Sign-ups are accepted up to 24 hours before the first class. HPA Band:  The band is open to all students in Grades 4-8.  If you are interested in joining, please contact Mr. Lindsey, the instrumental music teacher.  Practices are held on Friday afternoons in the Instrumental Music Room.  Advanced Band meets from 3:15-4:15 PM, Intermediate meets from 4:25-5:10 PM and Beginning Band meets from 5:15-6:00 PM.  Please see website calendar for half-day schedule. 

Dance Class:  The Plaza Production dance program began this session on Thursday, January 21 and  it ends on Thursday, March 25.  Grades K & 1 meet from 2:30-3:15 PM.  The class for Grades 2-4 has been canceled due to low enrollment.  It's not too late to sign up--incoming students may have their tuition prorated.  Please click

Mathnasium:  This after school math program is held on campus every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.  It is available to all students in Grades 1-8, and you may sign up at any time.  Fliers/registration forms are available in the school office.  Their website is
