Camera Tips
CAMERA
Director The Camera Operator is the Director's right hand, and therefore has a responsibility to capture the director's artistic vision of the project.  If the Director and Camera Operator are same person, there must be an Assistant Director to run the set. 
Protect the Camera Keep it out of direct sunlight by using an umbrella or other shading device.
Exteriors (outside locations) Camera Operator has back to sun
No White No white clothing on actors, avoid shooting against white backgrounds and against white lights in ceilings.
View Playback & Critique Look for technical flaws in the scene and listen for audio flaws as well.
Smooth Movement Pre-plan your shots.  Use a variety of shots, establish points of view.  Get closer, avoid zooming in and out too quickly or too often.
Date/Time Stamp Make sure it is off before you roll tape!
AUDIO
Headphones Worn by Camera Operator at all times
Built-in Microphone Audio Level on Camera, Boost it
External Microphone In central location cabled to Camera
Exterior Location Beware of background noise that will ruin the take
Bottom Line If we can't hear the dialog we've got a big problem.
LIGHTING
Exterior Action Actors face sun or light source
Camera Operator has back to sun
Interior Action Actors face light source
Camera Operator has back to light source
Light your Set and Actors Improve image and color quality.
LCD Panel Image may appear brighter than it actually is.
